Drop audio or video here

MP3 · WAV · M4A · MP4 · MOV · WEBM — up to 4 hours. Nothing is uploaded.

How it works

  1. Drop your video onto the box above: MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and more.
  2. AudioRinse shows what's inside: the sound's format, bitrate and length.
  3. Keep the original sound (M4A, copied as it is), or pick MP3 or WAV.
  4. Download it. Nothing is uploaded; the video never leaves your device.

Original quality, really

Most videos from phones, cameras and YouTube carry their sound as AAC. Choosing M4A copies that sound track out of the video packet by packet: nothing is decoded or encoded again, so no quality is lost and even a long video takes seconds.

Videos with another sound format (Opus in a WebM, for example) are converted to AAC at a high quality. WAV gives you uncompressed audio for editing.

Which format to pick

  • M4A: the original sound, the smallest file and the fastest. Plays on phones, Macs, Windows and in every editor.
  • MP3: for players and sites that only take MP3.
  • WAV: uncompressed, for editing in Audacity, Premiere, DaVinci Resolve or a DAW. About 11 MB per minute of stereo.

Then clean it up

A video's sound is often its weak part: a fan, a hum, a voice too quiet to hear. Once it's extracted, the same file goes to the noise remover, the hum remover or the loudness normalizer in one click, and the noise remover's video version keeps the picture.

Questions

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser, on your own device. Your file never leaves it, so there's no upload to wait for and nothing stored on a server.

Is it really free?

Yes. Converting is free with no limit, no account and no watermark. AudioRinse earns from its cleaning tools; the converters are here because a recording often needs both.

Can I get the audio of a YouTube video?

AudioRinse works on files on your device; it doesn't download from YouTube or other sites. If you have the video file, drop it here.

Does it work on audio files too?

Yes. Drop an MP3, WAV, M4A, FLAC or Ogg file to save it in another format. Files up to 4 hours.

The sound is noisy or too quiet. Can I fix it?

Yes. After converting, one click sends the same file to the background noise remover, the loudness normalizer or the buzz and hum remover. Cleaning is free to try; the free plan includes 3 downloads a month.
