How it works

  1. Drop your OGG or OPUS file onto the box above: music, game audio, a voice message.
  2. Pick 192 kbps, or 320 for music and 128 for voice messages.
  3. Download the MP3. It's made on your device; nothing is uploaded.
  4. Sound noisy or too quiet? One click sends the same file to the noise remover or the loudness normalizer.

Vorbis, Opus and voice messages

OGG is an open container with two kinds of sound in it. Vorbis is the older one: games, Wikipedia's audio, some music downloads. Opus is the newer one, made for voices and streaming: WhatsApp and Telegram voice messages are Opus, saved as .opus or .ogg.

Both sound good for their size, but many phones, car stereos, editors and websites won't open them. MP3 plays everywhere. AudioRinse decodes the sound and encodes it as MP3 at the bitrate you pick.

Voice messages

A voice message is speech at a low bitrate, so a 128 kbps MP3 keeps everything in it. If it's quiet or noisy, the loudness normalizer and the noise remover take the same file in one click after converting.

Questions

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser, on your own device. Your file never leaves it, so there's no upload to wait for and nothing stored on a server.

Is it really free?

Yes. Converting is free with no limit, no account and no watermark. AudioRinse earns from its cleaning tools; the converters are here because a recording often needs both.

Does it work on .opus files?

Yes. A .opus file is an OGG with Opus sound in it, so it converts the same way. WebM files with Opus sound work on the WebM to MP3 page.

Which bitrate should I pick?

For voice messages and speech, 128 kbps keeps everything they carry. For music, 192 or 320.

How long can the file be?

Up to 4 hours. It converts many times faster than it plays: an hour of audio takes a few minutes.

The sound is noisy or too quiet. Can I fix it?

Yes. After converting, one click sends the same file to the background noise remover, the loudness normalizer or the buzz and hum remover. Cleaning is free to try; the free plan includes 3 downloads a month.
