How it works

  1. Drop your video onto the box above: MP4, MOV, WebM, MKV and more.
  2. Pick MP3 at 192 kbps, or 320 for the best quality and 128 for the smallest file.
  3. Download the MP3. It's made on your own device; the video is never uploaded.
  4. If the sound needs work, send the same file to the noise remover or the loudness normalizer in one click.

Which MP3 to pick

  • 192 kbps: sounds like the original for speech and most music. The default.
  • 320 kbps: the highest MP3 quality, for music you'll keep.
  • 128 kbps: the smallest file, for voice notes, lectures and podcasts.
  • M4A instead: most MP4s from phones, cameras and YouTube carry AAC sound, and M4A keeps it exactly as it is, with no conversion at all.

Why it's fast, and private

Most online converters upload your video to a server, convert it there and send the result back; with a big video, the upload is most of the wait. AudioRinse reads the video in your browser and only touches its sound track. The picture is skipped, so a long video converts quickly and nothing leaves your computer.

There's no daily limit, no account and no watermark.

Questions

Is my file uploaded anywhere?

No. The conversion runs inside your browser, on your own device. Your file never leaves it, so there's no upload to wait for and nothing stored on a server.

Is it really free?

Yes. Converting is free with no limit, no account and no watermark. AudioRinse earns from its cleaning tools; the converters are here because a recording often needs both.

How long can the file be?

Up to 4 hours. Only the sound is converted, not the picture, so even a long video is quick.

MP3 or M4A?

MP3 plays everywhere. M4A (AAC) is what most videos already carry: choosing it copies the video's sound as it is, with no loss and almost no wait. Both play on phones, computers and in editors.

The sound is noisy or too quiet. Can I fix it?

Yes. After converting, one click sends the same file to the background noise remover, the loudness normalizer or the buzz and hum remover. Cleaning is free to try; the free plan includes 3 downloads a month.
